Wireless microphones and frequencies

Wireless microphones and In-Ear Monitoring systems (IEM, or 'earpieces') use radio frequencies. A licence is usually not required for the use of this equipment. However, make sure that you use the correct frequency space.

Conditions for using wireless microphones

The conditions and requirements are outlined in the Dutch Regeling gebruik van frequentieruimte zonder vergunning en zonder meldingsplicht 2015

Available frequency space for wireless microphones

The use of a wireless microphone primarily takes place in the UHF-broadcast band. The frequency ranges in this band where usage is allowed are:

470-556 MHz
558-564 MHz
566-572 MHz
574-580 MHz
582-588 MHz
590-596 MHz
598-604 MHz
614-694 MHz

Regional differences

Because the frequency space is shared with digital broadcasting, not all of the frequencies listed above are available at every location in the Netherlands. This varies by region.

Microphone Band Application (Applicatie microfoonbanden)

With the Microphone Band application, you can query the current available frequencies at a specific location in the Netherlands.

Changes in the allocation of frequency space for microphones

The allocation of frequency space is subject to changes. Due to the increasing demand for frequencies, particularly for the expansion of mobile communication networks, it is possible that frequency bands will be repurposed.
