IACS and Cybersecurity Conference (English)

The Dutch Authority for Digital Infrastructure (RDI), together with the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) and in collaboration with the IACS Coalition will be hosting a conference on Industrial Automation and Control Systems (IACS) and Cybersecurity in spring 2025.

The conference will take place on 15 April 2025 at Rijtuigenloods in Amersfoort.

This non-commercial conference will feature a range of international speakers and will therefore be held entirely in English.

What does IACS stand for?

IACS stands for Industrial Automation and Control Systems. These are systems that combine hardware and software to automate and control physical processes and machines. They are widely used in areas such as manufacturing, energy and transport to improve efficiency and safety. With this in mind, they are also widely referred to as operational technology (OT).

Indispensable systems

IACS are often seamlessly integrated into processes, for example in technical infrastructure for telecoms, traffic lights and network operators. They also play an indispensable part in producing clean drinking water and controlling water levels. IACS can be found in almost every walk of life.

However, the far-reaching digitisation of physical processes is not simply beneficial. It also exposes these processes to digital risks. The Netherlands Cybersecurity Strategy (NLCS) recognises this issue, which is also addressed in legislation, such as the Network and Information Systems Security Act (Wbni) and its successor: the Cybersecurity Act (NIS2 Directive).

Background to and aim of the conference

The focus on cyber resilience in IACS is intensifying. This makes it an ideal time to bring together relevant initiatives, establish or strengthen networks, and create a platform for research projects in the field.

The aim of the IACS Conference is to enable us to learn from each other in discussions across sectors, integrate activities within the field and share knowledge with each other and the wider world.

Stay tuned! Further details about the IACS Conference will be published on this page as the plans unfold.
